Tukae is a Tanzanian-initiated project supported and led by personnel from Tukae UK and Tukae Denmark. Its aim is to assist in the alleviation of poverty through practical action in four broad areas: Health, Education, Job Creation and the Environment. Tukae is registered as an organisation in Denmark and as a charity in the UK
Tukae is based near Amani in the East Usambara Mountains in the Tanga region of northern Tanzania, East Africa. Thickly forested with a high rainfall of over two metres a year, the East Usambaras rise to over 1200 metres. These mountains are considered internationally important for their biodiversity and high number of endemic species.
